As parts of the great fungal collective of Wellnest, Wellnesters are the pieces of itself Wellnest broke off to go out and search for adventure and new experiences as Advents. Wellnesters take easily to being Hands – there’s no such thing as death to a fungus, after all – but tend to have problems understanding the flow of time and action/consequence. Hooked into a vast but slow network of memories, Wellnesters have a rough idea of what things are and how to behave, but desperately want to experience everything for themselves.
WHERE THEY’RE FROM
There once was an enlightened society of brilliant and compassionate beings.
Then a fungus ate them.
While composed of a billion billion different organisms, everything in Wellnest IS Wellnest. It is a psychic and physical collective in the shape of a consumed society: graceful towers with arching window, grand promenades and artfully structured parks. Just, you know, made out of sentient fungus. Sometimes Wellnest will tell a piece to get ambulatory and go explore the Cluster. Sometimes they come back and rejoin. Sometimes beings from other Worlds come to join Wellnest…
ADVANTAGE: REVERIE
Once between rests, an Advent can amplify the emotion of someone within touch, sight, or hearing range. The target must be currently experiencing the emotion the Advent wishes to amplify. The target will act on that feeling, whatever it might be, though not to the point of physically harming themselves or another.
KEY QUALITIES
Bright, vivacious, enthusiastic, ready to fling themselves into the Outer Light again and again just to see what it’s like, Wellnesters tend to be fun but strange.
HOW THEY EXPERIENCE THE WORLD
“What happens to a Legend if you hack a part off and then it resurrects? Does it grow back? Does the part become a second Legend? Is that how you get new Legends? What if I eat it?”
HEALING
Wellnesters grow a number of duplicate body parts which can be grafted onto others. These will heal someone to full but have to be regrown by resting every four parts. However, the Wellnester cannot use these parts on themselves. These have to be applied in melee range.
WARNING: A Hand will easily integrate a donated part into themselves after a brief period, but non-Hand sentients will feel a kinship with the Wellnester that manifests as a strong sense of loyalty and desire to pay them back.
WHAT ARE THEY MADE OF?
There is no end to the variety of fungi. It can be hard to tell a Wellnester from appearances alone, but all of them have an appropriately organic quality.
