FORMING A TEAM
Your basic Interdimensional Response Team (IRT) is composed of 3-7 Hands roughly equivalent in experience. There are occasions where a Team will need to escort a denizen or, in turn, be escorted by a more experienced Hand if their Mission involves traveling through more dangerous territory.
Your Team is nominally determined by CORSAIR, using a battery of working style and specialization assessments to create a solid Team unlikely to require additional assistance in the field. Realistically, the Team is the characters of whoever you’re playing with. This can be awesome, dysfunctional, or anything in between.
Many games have assigned roles based on class or abilities. If you like having a tank, a healer, a controller, and some damage dealers, please go ahead! The system will work just fine to accommodate you. If your group prefers to be “every person for themselves,” that is also possible, if a little more difficult. Missions in RINGS often require working together and relying on one another, so Team cohesion and identity are considered important to CORSAIR.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIKE EACH OTHER, BUT YOU DO HAVE TO TRUST EACH OTHER
Hands have the ability to change reality itself and can be an…opinionated bunch. However, there are a few philosophical alignments that are critical to the system:
You want to save reality
You don’t actively work towards the failure of your Team, its members, or its allies
Causing unnecessary harm or injury is to be avoided whenever possible
These may seem like very basic tenets of playing a collaborative game, but some people only seem to have a good time when they’re ruining the good time of others. If the only way you can play your character is to be awful to your fellow players, there are games for you out there and RINGS is not one of them.
